Creative Competition "My Green School"
Project No. EKII-9/24 "Creative Competition "My Green School"" aims to enhance the understanding of climate change in Latvia among pupils in grades 1–6, promote climate-friendly actions that reduce the negative impacts of climate change, encourage changes in everyday habits, and reduce the spread of misinformation related to climate change, climate policy, and its fundamental principles. Special emphasis is placed on building energy efficiency. The project promotes the adoption of sustainable daily habits with the goal of saving energy at school, reducing resource consumption, and minimizing negative environmental impacts.
The project is implemented within the framework of the open call "Raising Public Awareness of the Importance and Opportunities of Climate Neutrality and Climate Resilience" (Latvian – "Sabiedrības izpratnes veicināšana par klimatneitralitātes un klimatnoturības nozīmi un iespējām"), financed by the Emissions Trading Auctioning Instrument (Latvian – "Emisijas kvotu izsolīšanas instruments").
Project activities:
- Implementation of the creative competition, including the launch of the campaign, organization of the competition, evaluation of submitted works, and awarding of winners.
- Development of methodological materials for teachers to be used in lessons on climate change in Latvia, climate-friendly behavior, and changes in everyday habits, for example within natural sciences classes.
Total funding:
46 617,80 EUR, including: 90% funding from the Emissions Trading Auctioning Instrument and 10% co-financing from VATP
