Purpose and conduct of the hackathon The purpose of the HackTheBiz hackathon is to find solutions to the challenges caused by the Covid-19 crisis in the field of business and to benefit from the rapidly growing digital environment and its opportunities, helping entrepreneurs to increase productivity and ensure more efficient use of time and resources. The hackathon will take place in a completely virtual environment on the online platform "Zoom", where within 48 hours, specialists-mentors from various industries will remotely help the teams to create new, viable business ideas for business support, which will be evaluated by a professional jury at the end of the hackathon. The winners will receive valuable prizes from the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sympathy prizes from cooperation partners. Individual participants and groups of up to 5 people from all over Latvia are invited to participate in the event.

    A hackathon is an idea generation event where participants in teams create solutions to various challenges in a short period of time. Using creativity, the support of experts and mentors, innovative solutions are obtained in a few days. Hackathons usually last 2-3 days.

  • How does an online hackathon work?

    In an online hackathon, participants work remotely. Regardless of their location, hackathon participants can participate, form teams, receive support from mentors and showcase their work on the hackathon's online platforms.

  • Who can participate in this hackathon?

    In this particular hackathon, we basically invite budding entrepreneurs, start-up representatives, marketing, business and finance specialists and students to participate, but we invite any enthusiast with new and bold ideas to participate. We are looking for people with different skills and experience. Teams with different skills and backgrounds often work incredibly well together and achieve outstanding results.

  • How many people are in one team?

    A team of three to five people works best. This is a sufficient number for the team to have a variety of skills represented and for the team to work together effectively in a short period of time.

  • What if I sign up alone or don't have a team?

    Teams will be created both before and during the hackathon. You will have enough time to get to know other members and create your own team or join another team.

  • Will there be filming during the event?

    Yes, photography, filming and live recording are possible during the event.
