The marathon of this year competition „We own the sky 2012” has ended; competition works has been received and evaluated. This Thursday, on April 26, we will find out those two youth – a girl and a guy – who will represent Latvia in a space camp in the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

On April 16, the jury consisting of four persons came together and evaluated 49 competition works. This year the works were evaluated by representative of the Ministry of Education and Science Kaspars Karolis, the VHTP Project Manager Eva Daigina, the VHTP Development and Marketing Department Manager Ilze Eglāja, as well as Manager of the Children’s Science CenterZ(in)oo in Cēsis Pauls Irbins.

The task of the jury was to evaluate each work after three criteria in a 10-point system: originality and creativity of a work, quality and complexity level of a work, as well as a fact whether the work submitted within the competition can be successfully used further to facilitate awareness and interest in Latvia about space technology. Mark in English of the work’s author was added to the total sum of the points. The best works reached more than 100 points.
