We own the sky!

Competition for pupils We own the sky! is an initiative by Ventspils High Technology Park and it provides a great opportunity for two 15-18 year old teenagers to participate in the "International SPACE CAMP®" in U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

The general aim of the competition is to provide information for the public and enhance general understanding of space technologies, thus strengthening interest among pupils to choose studies related to this sphere, for instance, space IT, engineering and natural sciences.

Pupils that have participated in the camp return gained great experience and impressions! During the camp participants have to perform tasks both individually and in teams, they construct rocket models and build heat-resistant shields. Pupils can also experience the free fall and rotation in the so called centrifuge, they participate in various simulations and have an opportunity to put themselves in the place of pilot-astronaut and to sit at control-management panel. Participants can also meet peers from different countries, for instance, Costa Rica, Singapore, China, Hungary, Greece, USA and many others. Therefore, camp is a great opportunity not only to practise in astronautics, but also improve your English.
