The Kurzeme Democentre in Ventspils begins its operation

Today, on September 26, opening event of an interactive science centre “Kurzeme Democentre” will be held at the Ventspils High Technology Park (the VHTP).

As has already been mentioned, interactive science centres have gained popularity worldwide and they become in their location the top tourism objects and attractive promotion centres to choose educational direction and career.

Winners of this year’s competition „We own the sky 2012” really gladly have returned from the international space camp in Huntsville, Alabama, the USA. Organizers of the competition asked to an interview both of the winners. Here is the interview with the winner among boys, Raimonds Munčs from Daugavpils.

On Thursday, April 26, awarding ceremony taking place at the Children’s Science Center Z(in)oo in Cēsis concluded the competition “We own the sky 2012” organized by the Ventspils High Technology Park (the VHTP) and Ministry of Education and Science. This year Latvia at the space camp in the USA will be represented by Raimonds Munčs from Daugavpils and Annija Korpa from Riga.

Today, on April 26, at the awarding ceremony results of the competition „We own the sky 2012” were announced – two winners, a girl and a boy who will represent Latvia in the space camp for youth in the USA this year. Among boys Raimonds Munčs, a pupil from Daugavpils State Gymnasium, become the winner, but among girls – a pupil from Riga English Grammar School Annija Korpa.

Winners of the competition „We own the sky 2012” are to be known this week

The marathon of this year competition „We own the sky 2012” has ended; competition works has been received and evaluated. This Thursday, on April 26, we will find out those two youth – a girl and a guy – who will represent Latvia in a space camp in the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

Today the jury of the competition „We own the sky 2012” came together at the Ventspils High Technology Park (the VHTP) to collectively evaluate works of the youth and set the winners of this year. This year works were evaluated by the representative of the Ministry of Education and Science Kaspars Karolis, the VHTP Project Manager Eva Daigina, the VHTP Development and Marketing Department Manager Ilze Eglāja, as well as Manager of the Children’s Science Center Z(in)oo in Cēsis Pauls Irbins.

49 works received for the competition „We own the sky 2012” (updated)

On April 2, submission term of the competition’s „We own the sky 2012” works ended; in total there were 49 works received and submitted by 45 Latvian pupils (several participants of the competition have prepared two works). Overall 31 girl and 14 guys strive for an opportunity to get to U.S. Space & Rocket Center and participate in the “International Space camp” this summer.

„We own the sky 2012!” competition works are to be evaluated

Currently works of the competition „We own the sky 2012!” are being summarized. As the term for submission of the competition works was April 2 several competition works are still travelling via post. A competent jury consisting of representatives of the VHTP, Ministry of Education and Science of the RL, and Children’s Science Center Z(in)oo will evaluate the works by April 16.

By April 2 every pupil may participate in a competition „We own the sky” that is organized by the Ventspils High Technology Park already the third year in turn.

Have you ever walked over the Moon? I have!

This year as previously the Ventspils High Technology Park will grant a great prize – to visit a space camp in the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama – to two Latvian pupils this summer. But the most active Latvian school from which the most works will be received, will get 20 free tickets to Children’s Science Center Z(in)oo in Cēsis!

This year the competition „We own the sky” is much wider

The organiser of the competition „We own the sky 2012” the Ventspils High Technology Park this year has attracted more partners and supporters thus allowing information about the competition spread more widely. Also a special competition poster has been created, and it will travel to 350 Latvian schools.

This year the competition has gained an image of more active event by attracting such partners and supporters as portal draugiem.lv, radio SpinFM, Children’s Science Center Z(in)oo, portal E-klase, magazine Ilustrētā Junioriem

The competition in 2012 was held for the third year in turn. The organizers – the Ventspils High Technology Park (the VHTP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the RL, IdeaHouse Events, and Children’s Science Center Z(in)oo invited all active Latvian pupils to take this great opportunity and get to the international space camp in the USA.

Today a competition „We own the sky 2012” has started! We are calling all Latvian pupils to take this chance, submit a competition work related to space, and win a great prize – an opportunity to get to space camp in America in summer.

A competition work can be of every type – a drawing, paper, poem, dance, or anything else. It means that everyone can participate!

Interview with Chairman of the Board Ivars Eglājs in the 7th anniversary of the VHTP

Today is the 7th anniversary of a foundation Ventspils High Technology Park. Tell me how all this began?

At the end of 2004 I arrived in Ventspils – city which I immediately found very attractive. I understood that here I want to work and stay. This was how the idea about development of electronics and high technologies in Ventspils was born.
