On March 9, seminar „Sustainable and Integrated Baltic Research and Innovation Area” organised by the Education, Science and Culture Committee of the Baltic Assembly took place in Ventspils with participation of the Economics, Energy and Innovations Committee. During the visit, representatives of the Baltic States’ parliaments visited also the Ventspils High Technology Park (the VHTP).
Today is the 7th anniversary of a foundation Ventspils High Technology Park. Tell me how all this began?
At the end of 2004 I arrived in Ventspils – city which I immediately found very attractive. I understood that here I want to work and stay. This was how the idea about development of electronics and high technologies in Ventspils was born.
Today, the Free Port of Ventspils Authority and SIA “Eurolcds” will sign the Contracts for lease of land and construction of three-dimensional (3D) factory buildings in Ventspils.
In July three new companies will be enrolled in the"Ventspils High Technology Park’s Business Incubator".
Out of these three, Ltd. "EuroLCDs" has the greatest ambition - to build a 3D imaging technology factory till summer of 2012. The founders of "EuroLCDs'' are Ltd. "Macro" Rīga, company ''Hornell Teknikinvest AB'', ''LC Tec Holding AB'', and investment fund ''Baltcap''.
Jānis Vītoliņš, the 1st vice-chairperson of Ventspils city council and vice-chairperson of Ventspils Free Port Authority, explained that Ventspils High Technology Park (VHTP) was founded within a project financed by PHARE programme.
