Space industry specialists will gather in Ventspils
Current and prospective space industry’s specialists from the USA, Germany and the Baltics, on August 15 to 19 will visit Ventspils to participate in the Satellite Technology Summer School.
As Ivars Eglājs, the Chairman of the Board of Ventspils High Technology Park (VHTP), informed, that the lecturers in summer school will be mainly from Germany and the USA.
Dr. Randy Liefer, an Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics with over 30 years of aerospace engineering experience, within the summer school, will read a two day course “Understanding space”. Three lecturers from Germany representing second largest satellite construction company OHB System AG, which develops the Galileo satellites, will also come to the summer school. Engineers Frank Engelhardt, Willem Bode and Dr. Sc. Ing. Indulis Kalniņš will inform about the practice in industry’s purchases, research, and production processes, they will also chair a practical seminar “Applying Cleanroom to satellite construction”.
The teams of first Estonian satellite ESTcube and first Latvian satellite Venta-1, and Lithuanian team will share their experience in small satellite development and will join the testing and simulation of satellite’s Venta-1 model.
As previously reported, the Satellite Technology Summer School 2011 in Ventspils is organized by VHTP, and it will provide information on business opportunities and technologies in space industry.
