„We own the sky 2012” has started!

Today a competition „We own the sky 2012” has started! We are calling all Latvian pupils to take this chance, submit a competition work related to space, and win a great prize – an opportunity to get to space camp in America in summer.

A competition work can be of every type – a drawing, paper, poem, dance, or anything else. It means that everyone can participate!

Today is the 7th anniversary of a foundation Ventspils High Technology Park. Tell me how all this began?

At the end of 2004 I arrived in Ventspils – city which I immediately found very attractive. I understood that here I want to work and stay. This was how the idea about development of electronics and high technologies in Ventspils was born.

Delegates from Latvia attended international space industry conference

23 delegates from Latvian companies and institutes attended an international space industry conference “Broadening the Base of Europe’s Space Community” that took place in Tallinn, on February 1–3. The conference was organised within the “NordicBaltSat” project.

Apollo.lv: New alternatives are searched for satellite’s «Venta-1» launch into orbit

Star of an Indian carrier rocket “Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle” (PSLV) by which launch of the first Latvian satellite “Venta-1” and Italian satellite “Maxvalier” into orbit was planned, again is being cancelled on indefinite time. Currently alternative solutions for the satellite’s launch are searched – an agency LETA was informed by development coordinator of the satellite “Venta-1” Dana Reizniece-Ozola.

Youth will construct robots in Ventspils

On December 14th and 15th, in Ventspils 1. Gymnasium will take place Robot construction seminar, the aim of seminar is to stimulate youth’s interest about engineering and demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of different technical spheres. Within the seminar youth will acquire basic theoretical robot construction, electronic and programming knowledge, and have the opportunity to construct their own sumo-robot. At the end of seminar will be exciting sumo-robot fights, in order to see whose robot is the most powerful. The winner will have an opportunity to participate in Baltic Robotics competitions in Rīga and Tartu in spring 2012.
