A record high number of ideas have been submitted for European Satellite Navigation Competition 2011
(2)On 3rd July ended the submission of ideas for the European Satellite Navigation Competition, which is held for the eighth consecutive year. Latvia is a participant for the first time.
This year, the competition’s organizers received a record high number of registrations from 820 participants and 401 ideas are submitted.
Eight innovative ideas are submitted from Latvia, six of which are completely filled and therefore will be evaluated to determine the regional winner and afterwards put forward for the international evaluation. The ideas are different, for instance, an idea on a new way how to send a satellite in space, Software – Defined Interactive Real-Time GNSS Receiver Platform, etc.
The national evaluating committees soon will start the process of evaluation and, according to the terms of the competition, will select the authors of the best ideas.
In addition to the evaluation of dedicated jury, in mid-September the registered members of competition’s homepage will be able to online vote for their favourite idea, thus deciding who receives the ESNC Audience Award.
The main prize will be a grant of EUR 20 000, and the Latvian regional winner will receive consultations on starting a business and business incubator services provided by the Foundation “Ventspils High Technology Park” in cooperation with other business incubators in Latvia.
