LEO Research Centre unites scientific partners and business people, and its activity is related to the implementation of industrial researches, new products and technology development projects in two research directions, firstly, in electronics and research of electrical engineering industrial technologies and new product development, and secondly, in satellite technology research and new product development. |

Being the competency centre of Latvian electric and optical equipment productive industry, LEO Research Centre unites more than 20 members, including companies, scientific institutes and Ventspils University College. The main objective of the competency centre is to increase the competitiveness of business people by promoting the collaboration between the fields of research and industry.
The electronic and satellite technology products, created within the research projects of the main project, are planned to be used in order to develop the satellite construction and to elaborate different equipment and programmes that could be afterwards used in various spheres, namely, to manufacture household equipment and develop applications, improve services of security, environmental control and transport, as well as create products for entertainment.
The competency centre has received public funding from European Regional Development Fund of total LVL 6 250 000 to develop its activity.
