Latvijas Radio 1: Students get acquainted with the Kurzeme Democentre
On May 24, 2012, students from the Riga Technical University (the RTU) visited Kurzeme Democentre of the foundation „Ventspils High Technology Park” (the VHTP) in order to test different interactive stands.
Development and Marketing Department project manager Eva Daigina introduced visitors with product samples, as well as interactive stands in the Kurzeme Democentre. A stand „I am a spaceman” giving an opportunity to make a photo in a costume of spaceman, next to a spaceship, and in a free fall earned big interest from visitors.
The VHTP Chairman of the Board Ivars Eglājs pointed that within the EU 34537 „Unified ICT Network for Innovations” (ICT DCNet) project of the Estonian–Latvian cross-border cooperation programme, demonstration centres in Riga, Tartu, and Ventspils have been established with an aim to introduce not only with the new technologies but also giving an opportunity to test them. The Kurzeme Democentre is oriented towards products made in Kurzeme region and Business incubators, as well as gives a chance to test, touch products thus giving broader idea about the product than it would be when only visiting the particular production unit.
In Demo Centre there will be an opportunity to play space games, watch space videos, and test other interesting interactive stands. Students of the RTU recognised a stand „3D models” that allows to see and research in virtual environment products made in the Kurzeme region, as well as to disassemble and assemble 3D models of the first Latvian satellite Venta-1 and the first Estonian satellite EST-CUBE.
