Kurzeme industrial design exhibition Elements after visiting Ventspils and Liepāja has reached Kuldīga. The exhibition will be seen at the trade centre Rimi by January 25. Corset design produced in Ventspils by Textile 4U Ltd. has earned special attention among exhibits.

Corset is a special piece of clothing pressing bottom of the chest and abdomen to make body slimmer. Although women could not imagine her life without a corset for many centuries, this is how simply it is described in a dictionary.

France is considered to be country of origin of a corset when in the 14^th century it was bind together underwear for women and men by the help of which the middle part of a body could be tightened and reduced. The name of corset is derived from French word corps that means body. But it is quite possible that corsets are much older invention: drawings on pottery of earlier civilisations found in Egypt are very similar to corsets of the 14^th century. However corset is not only trend of past but it again and again are gaining heart of women.

Manager of the Textile 4U Ltd. Edijs Brauners specifies – „In exhibition Elements we wanted to introduce people of Kurzeme to our latest collection design of which is developed in Liepāja by company Lauma Lingerie JSC. Authors of its design are group of designers and constructors of the Lauma Lingerie JSC under the guidance of Dace Nelsone.”

Idea has arose during negotiations with clients, and as the biggest market is Russia and republics of the former Soviet Union we can already grasp what importance women in Russia are paying to look. It is not a secret that ladies always and at every times are willing to look slimmer. That was how the idea about wonder clothing – corset that successfully corrects body lines – was born.

Success story of the company Lauma Lingerie JSC are based on principles of team work. Also in this case – whole and united team of designers and constructors with sale persons are working on development of such corset. Exactly result of effective and united team work is unique and beautiful lingerie sets.

One of the biggest challenges in the work of designers and constructors is to balance design of the product with its functional features because ladies lingerie of course must visually look like fashion and design product but, for example, brassiere must also fulfil important role in health prophylaxis and weekdays of a woman.

 „Models produced by Textile 4U Ltd. are made of inelastic lace knitting with openwork flower pattern, smooth elastic knitting, and functional elastic material. Inelastic materials in front parts and functional elastic knitting in back part allow reaching maximal waist correction effect”, confirms head of corsets’ design groups Dace Nelsone.

Visitors of the exhibition Elements are welcome to see the products of the Textile 4U Ltd. and other Kurzeme producers as well as vote for the most successful design at the trade centre or in a home page www.kurzemesdizains.lv by January 25. Aim of the travelling exhibition is to inform Latvian inhabitants about the enterprises of Kurzeme and their production, promote recognition of Kurzeme’s producers in Latvian market, emphasize importance of design and artists’ role in technology development, and show the latest products of the region.
