Competition’s We Own the Sky 2011 participants have been awarded
On June 2, was organized an awarding ceremony to thank the participants of competition We Own the Sky 2011, for the time and effort they have devoted to create their works, and award the winners.
Attendants had an opportunity to examine works of other participants, play self-made games about space, and visit Children`s Science Centre “Tehnoannas pagrabi” (Cellars of the TechnoAnn) to acquire new knowledge by examining the planetarium and solving different logical thinking tasks.
Good atmosphere in the closing ceremony was supplemented by a self-composed song of Jūlija Astratova, competition’s participant and second place winner in girl category, and video about extraordinary solar system made by the winner of the competition Rūdolfs Blaumanis.
In awarding ceremony competition’s participants shared stories on how they prepared their works, and many admitted they would participate in the competition again next year to compete for the opportunity to go to International SPACE CAMP®.
As previously reported, both winners of the competition – Laura Līce from Brocēni Secondary School and Rūdolfs Blaumanis from Valmiera State Gymnasium – in July will go to USA to participate in an international camp in the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama. Both winners look forward to go to camp, since the trip is to be really significant and astonishing.
Both competition organizers, and the jury highly appreciates the time and effort pupils have devoted to participate in the competition We Own the Sky 2011!
